Red Lake

About Us

A little bit of our history…

The Forestview Apartments came into existence in 1984, when the Dickenson Mine wanted out of the housing business. The 104 unit complex consists of four buildings which were initially populated by single mine workers in their own one-bedroom, furnished suites. From the beginning, the apartments have provided the best accommodations in the area as well as a sense of community belonging.

The first tree was cut on the Detta Road site in June 1984, we moved the first tenants in November and the project was completed for the January 1st, 1985 deadline. Local suppliers and trades were a significant part in this considerable undertaking.

In 1986, as phase two of construction began, the three bedroom family units known as the Pineridge Townhouses were built. All materials and 75% of labor were purchased locally. The Forestview Apartments and Pineridge Townhouses play a significant role in the Red Lake District as a service provider, consumer, and employer.

The longest strike in Canadian history took place in Balmertown from 1996 to 2000. After this time, changes were made so that not only were our units rented on a yearly basis but monthly and weekly as required. The one bedroom units of Building #4 were “spruced up” and rented on a nightly basis, hence the creation of The Nature’s Inn Red Lake.

Today, the Nature’s Inn Red Lake 30 all suite rooms successfully cater to business/leisure travelers with free high speed internet & 51” TVs. Our one bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens also provide guests the option to cook & a spacious area to unwind. We offer long term & group rates when blocking a number of rooms.

Every season has something to offer in the heart of Sunset Country. We are located minutes away from boat launching facilities on beautiful Red Lake and have direct access to groomed snowmobile trails in the winter. Aside from renowned wilderness experiences, the Red Lake District enjoys an 18-hole golf course, charming shops, restaurants, a recreation complex and the bustle of one of the richest gold mines in North America.

We provide flexible accommodation to visitors and residents of the Red Lake District. From permanent residency to transitional housing to nightly stays, the evolution and possibilities of our infrastructure are endless. Time and budget upgrades are part of a continuous improvement strategy.

It is our personal and friendly service that sets us apart from other hotels in Northwestern Ontario. Our greatest asset is a team of 10-15 loyal employees that create a “Home Away From Home” for our guests.
